Jones Chapel baptist church celebrates
Women's History Month
Featuring the late Mother albertha hailey
Mother Albertha Jones Hailey, was born in 1927, in the county of Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was the 3 rd child of the Late George Dewey Jones and Florence Ancrum Jones. At the time of her passing, she held the distinct honor of being named “Mother” of the Jones Chapel Baptist Church. Members and visiting friends knew her as “Mother or Momma” Hailey.
At a very early age, she joined Jones Chapel Baptist Church, and served faithfully until
her death. As an active member she served as a member of the Missionary Ministry, Women's Auxiliary, Gospel and Mass choirs and Secretary of the Mt. Pisgah Union. She was one of the Coordinators of the Annual Jones Chapel 4th of July Festivities, which was visited by individuals all over the United States.
Mother Hailey was known for her humbleness, obedience to God and respect for others. She loved baking, sewing, gardening and canning. Everyone who knew her witnessed the delicious cakes and special dishes that she would faithfully prepare for them. She was a giving Christian woman.
On October 8, 1944, she was joined in holy matrimony to the Late Rev. James Hailey of Orangeburg, South Carolina. They were married for 61.3 years before God called him to rest in 2006. The couple was blessed with six children.
Mother Hailey’s favorite scripture reflects the Second Commandment, “You shall love
your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39. Her motto was “Follow the will of God and do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She continued to serve God until her passing on Monday, March 1st, 2021.
Thank you, Mother Albertha Hailey, for your service to the kingdom of God and the love you have always shown to those who had the privilege meeting you.
